Now we can offer you soft shackles from our own production line. For now we offer three standard soft shackles. They are all made of 100% dyneema fiber and they are all prestretched before shipping. They are all self tightening (no milking required to close the loop) and easy to open.

Custom lengths and diameters are also available.

Soft shackles testing device

Msailing has finally designed and assembled our own simple testing bed for soft shackles and rope loops. From now on all soft shackles and loops bought from us will be prestretched on that device. We will hopefully soon upgrade it with a load sensor so we will be able to determine exactly to which loads we load our soft shackles and loops.

New FSE Robline ropes catalog is finally here and with it a lot of new and exciting things by FSE Robline. We are happy to announce that most of the ropes that used to have Dyneema SK75 core have now a new better core with much less creep, that is dyneema SK78. As for racing ropes you can now assemble them yourself, just pick the best core (dyneema SK90, SK78, vectran, PBO) for the application and add the most suitable cover on it. Shipman 72 Moksha delivery from Liverpool due south

End of season delivery of Shipman 72 – Moksha from Liverpool (UK) to Canary Islands (Spain) took a bit longer than planned with additional stops to avoid breaking things in bad weather. And we only managed to get to Cascais (Portugal) before the weather window closed for two weeks. Otherwise it was a great sailing with great yacht from cold and rainy England towards warmer Spain and Portugal. We have traveled for fourteen days to sail from Liverpool (UK) to Crosshaven (Cork, Ireland), A Coruna (Spain) and finally Cascais (Lisbon, Portugal).

New Shipman 72

In close cooperation with Hall Spars BV we have helped with stepping of a carbon Hall Spars BV mast with Future Fibres PBO rigging on a new Shipman 72 – Alba 2 for our client Seaway Technologies. We also connected steering system with vectran ropes and installed all running rigging on this beautiful looking yacht.

Soft shackles

Soft shackles are getting more and more popular. They are simple, cheap and they do not damage your boat when smashing around. In the pictures below you can see three different types of shackles. We strongly recommend the one from the left picture. It has all the advantages of the other two and none of the setbacks. The main advantage over the left one which you can get in every sailing shop is that it is self tightening.

It is up to you. You can make your own soft shackles or you can trust us to make them for you. You can find great tutorial on how to make soft shackles on L-36.com.

Rigging jobs and yacht maintenance

Spring and summer of 2012 were quite busy times for us since we did quite a few rigging jobs (Hall Spars BV and Future Fibres), managed major maintenance/refit job of exterior and interior of a sailng yacht Shipman 63 – Tucana and secured a contract for regular maintenance of another Shipman 63, that is an eight years old prototype named Mahi Mahi. On attached pictures you can see what happens with carbon furling foils and PBO forestay if boatyard travel lift crashes into it, we are also showing Future Fibres stay quietTM system which dampens PBO rigging vibrations. That particular one was installed on a brand new Shipman 63 – Mantra. We also did a rod forestay replacement for a Swan 82.
